BL Companies | Employee Handbook | 2024
EVALUATION AND DEVELOPMENT PLANS The Company conducts employee evaluations and salary reviews once per year, normally during the month of December. This is an ideal opportunity for both the employee and the supervisor to develop objectives for the upcoming year and standards that will be used to evaluate performance. Open communication between employees, supervisors and Directors is critical to the success of the Company. Salary increases are dependent upon employee performance and the financial performance of the Company and
are not automatically granted. There is no cost of living adjustment; salary increases are merit based. The evaluation process is designed to assess the contribution of each Employee Owner. The evaluation form brings together the elements that have been identified as critical to the Company’s success. ▪ Job Responsibilities
▪ People Management ▪ Ownership Behaviors
▪ Leadership Competencies ▪ Continuous Development
INCENTIVE PROGRAMS Bonuses are provided to those employees who are not eligible for overtime. The payment of a bonus depends on two important factors: the performance of the Company in a given year and the employee’s individual performance. Bonuses are provided at the discretion of the Company. If the Company meaningfully exceeds its targets in a given year, those employees not eligible for bonuses may receive one. The Principal Incentive Compensation Program is designed to provide incentive compensation for all eligible Principals. Principals are a small group of employees who have the ability and the responsibility to have a broader impact on the success of the Company as a whole. Principals are chosen by the Principal Incentive Compensation Plan Committee which is appointed annually by the Company’s Board of Directors. The Committee meets annually, at a minimum, to determine the status of current Principals
and the nomination of new Principals for the program. OPEN DOOR POLICY BL Companies recognizes that employees have suggestions for improving the work environment, as well as complaints about the work environment. The most satisfactory solution to a job-related problem or concern is usually reached through a prompt discussion with your supervisor. Please feel free to contact your supervisor or the Director of Human Resources with any suggestions and/or complaints. If this discussion cannot take place, the employee should contact the General Counsel. Not every complaint can be resolved to an employee’s satisfaction. Even so, BL Companies believes that open communication is essential to a successful work environment and that all employees should feel free to raise issues of concern without fear of reprisal.
