Policy To provide a safe workplace for all Employees based on guidelines established by OSHA and other recommendations. The Company will ensure that the hazards of all chemicals found in the workplace will be evaluated and communicated to Employees. Workplace Chemicals and Hazards While BL Companies does not routinely handle chemicals in its workplace, laboratory glassware, chemicals used for decontamination, soil and ground water samples, contaminated soil and ground water samples, aerosol spray paint, building maintenance supplies including chemicals, are stored on-site. In such cases, for all products or chemicals purchased by BL Companies that require a SDS, the SDS shall be obtained at the time of the order and a workplace log shall be constructed. Log This log should include all products or chemicals brought onto the BL Companies’ workplace that require an SDS, as well as a title sheet listing these chemicals. The Safety Committee through the Committee’s Designee shall maintain the log. Each log will be site-specific to the BL Companies’ location. All Employees bringing any type of chemical or hazard onto any Company location should report the nature of the chemical to such Designee. Labeling Guidelines BL Companies will ensure that all containers for products or chemicals that require a SDS shall be labeled with the product or chemical identity, appropriate hazard warnings, and the address of the chemical manufacturer or other responsible party. Alternately, containers may be labeled with words, pictures, symbols, or a combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to BL Companies’ Employees under this Hazard Communication Program, will provide Employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemical (e.g. so the chemical information may be accessed by locating the SDS). Examples of such labeling systems will be incorporated into the Hazard Communication Program in accordance with the GHS and may include alternate labeling such as See the Safety section of the Intranet for a list of Designees.

Neither BL Companies nor its Employees shall remove or deface existing labels on incoming containers of hazardous chemicals. BL Companies shall ensure that labels or other forms of warning are legible, in English, and prominently displayed on the container. Currently, all BL Companies’ Employees speak and understand English. If Employees who speak other languages are hired, BL Companies may add the information in their language to the material presented, as long as the information is presented in English as well. Containers that contain material transferred from the original container shall be labeled with the product or chemical identity. Employee Communication All BL Companies’ Employees shall be made aware of the location of the SDS compilation for their workplace at the time of hiring, job assignment, or specific project orientation training. Unexpected Discovery of Hazardous Materials If hazardous or unknown potentially hazardous materials are unexpectedly discovered during project work activities, evacuate, secure the area, and call for assistance, being careful not to expose Employees to the material. The Employee’s Supervisor or the Safety Committee’s Designee shall be contacted for assistance. When required, a Hazardous Materials Response Team (located in certain fire departments or with commercial spill response contractors) shall be contacted to limit exposures to site personnel and/or the community. In all offices, the SDS is located in a centrally-located area.
