LEGALTIP PM Manual Julia O’Brien Vice President & General Counsel The PM Manual is here! On Friday, September 16 the PM Manual was posted to the intranet. While the PM Manual has “PM” in its title, it is for all of BL. The Manual takes a PM from the start of a project – starting with client selection – through closeout. Many employees at BL work on parts of a project – client selection, safety, taking meeting minutes, assisting with subconsultant agreements – so there is something in the Manual for all.

While this PM Manual is not “legal” per se, following the guidance of the Manual is best practice in how BL PMs set up, price, schedule, propose work, manage clients, hire subs, financially manage and safely conduct a project. By following this Manual we are mitigating our risk and, therefore, this quarter’s Legal Tip is a reminder of the need to read and follow the PM Manual. As we move through the fourth quarter, there will be changes made to the Manual as PMs, and others, read and suggest edits to it. At the end of 2022, we will finalize the Manual and it will then be updated on an annual basis.
