The Owners' Manual | Issue 25 | End of Summer 2022

BL Companies worked with Rechler Equity Partners for this distribution warehouse in Westhampton, NY. The site is located adjacent to Francis S. Gabreski Airport, therefore strict compliance with building heights was required to avoid interference with flights.

The project was part of an approved Planned Development District (PDD) with strictly defined criteria for aesthetics and signage. Typical warehouses are either precast or tilt- up construction, but the criteria of the PDD required a design that would be compatible with the aesthetics of the village of Westhampton.

A large canopy adjacent to the building provides cover from the elements to five lanes of delivery vans as they are being loaded. The structure was also designed to allow for future installation of a rooftop photovoltaic system. Conduit and stub-ups for electric vehicle charging have been installed throughout the delivery van parking.

Extensive landscaping was also provided including a continuous berm along the road to filter views of the building.
