Scope This Section applies to all BL Companies’ Employees who are or who may be working on a job site or in the field, also called “field work”. Policy BL Companies’ policy requires the correct use of appropriate Company-approved PPE wherever and whenever there is a potential for exposure, either real or assumed, to hazardous working conditions, or where a hazardous condition exists and a need is indicated for using such equipment to adequately reduce the hazard to personnel, visitors and/or subcontractors. Overview Field work can include everything from a walk-through of an occupied commercial office space, to an on-site inspection of a construction site, to conducting survey or test pits in open fields or heavily wooded areas, to working in areas where chemical compounds have been released and are present, to working in or near active roadways, to active and inactive industrial sites. The appropriate level of PPE depends on the circumstances. A few common sense rules apply: · When on a construction site, become familiar with and comply with all of the requirements of the contractor or other party responsible for job site safety; · Become familiar with and comply with any requirements imposed by the client; and · Whenever in doubt – err on the side of utilizing PPE. · Use of personal, employee-owned equipment should not be used on a BL project without consulting the Legal Department. Such equiplment includes, but is not limited to, boats, kayaks, ATV’s and drones. All BL Employees who require PPE are issued such items at no cost by the Company. Each Employee is required to sign an acknowledgement form stating that he/she has received such

· All controls are working in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Employees should familiarize themselves with the lift controls while close to the ground. Overhead Protection · Be aware of overhead clearance or overhead objects, including ceilings · Do not position an aerial lift between overhead hazards, if possible · Treat all overhead power lines and communication cables as energized and stay at least ten feet away · Avoid working near power lines during rainy or foggy conditions as electricity can arc between the power line and bucket. Stability in the Workzone · Set outriggers on pads or on a level, solid surface · Set brakes when outriggers are used · Use wheel chocks on sloped surfaces when it is safe to do so · Set up work zone warnings, such as cones and signs, when necessary to warn others. Make sure this work zone extends to the full area of where the bucket on the lift will go. If the work will be done over an active roadway, close the lane with flagmen or police. · Consider having a third party spotter on the ground next to the lift to act as the eyes and ears for the lift personnel and protect public safety. PPE · The BL Employee shall wear the proper fall protection PPE while operating the aerial lift and should be tied off to an appropriate anchor. See Section 8.11 below for information on harnesses and lanyards. · The BL Employee should wear all appropriate PPE. The hardhat should be secured under the chin to ensure that it does not fall off when the Employee is elevated. Employees should only go on a lift or operate a lift if they feel comfortable and properly trained. An Employee should not undertake this task if he or she is afraid of heights or is otherwise uncomfortable with the assignment.

8.10 Personal Protection Equipment

Purpose The purpose of this Section is to ensure the use of appropriate Company approved PPE by all BL Employees who are or who may be exposed to hazardous working conditions.
