Purpose To set forth the Company’s policy on alcohol and drug use in the workplace.

Scope This Section covers all Employees and all operations.

Policy While on the Company’s premises and while conducting business-related activities off the Company’s premises, no Employee may misuse alcohol, marijuana or be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or illegal drugs. Overview The consequences of Employee alcohol and drug abuse are recognized as “hidden costs” to business and industry. Hidden costs include such things as lowered productivity, increased absenteeism, inefficiency, increased Employee turnover, increased injury rates and incidents arising from behavioral problems. Alcohol is a drug and impairs performance up to fourteen (14) hours after drinking. This can result in a less safe environment for all Employees. Excessive drinking can cause friction in the workplace, lower efficiency, bad and unsafe decision-making, a poor public image, and is a waste of resources. There is no place for alcohol abuse in the workplace, and it will not be tolerated. It is the Company’s desire to provide a drug-free, healthful and safe workplace. To promote this goal, Employees are required to report to work in an appropriate mental and physical condition to perform their jobs in a satisfactory manner. While on the Company’s premises and while conducting business-related activities off the Company’s premises, no Employee may misuse, distribute, sell, or be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or illegal drugs. The legal use of prescribed drugs is permitted on the job only if it does not impair an Employee’s ability to perform the essential functions of the job effectively and in a safe manner that does not endanger other individuals in the workplace.
