· is suspended, cancelled or has not been renewed in a timely manner. · No one other than an authorized Employee may operate a Company vehicle. · Employees should always wear seat belts and shoulder harness. · Vehicle loads shall be properly secured and shall not exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s legal limits. This includes any tools or equipment. · Vehicles should be locked at all times when not in use. Routine Operating Procedures · Prior to driving any vehicle, drivers should visually inspect the perimeter of the vehicle prior to putting a vehicle in motion. In addition, drivers should inspect the vehicle looking specifically to ensure that: · For Company vehicles, the First Aid Kit is there and unobstructed. · The tires appear properly inflated, headlights, brake lights and signals are all operational, windshield wipers are operational and wiper fluid is present. · When possible, drivers should utilize the First Move Forward practice when parking their vehicle. When an Employee chooses a parking space in a parking lot with open ended stalls, he or she should choose one that can be pulled through and park facing out so that when the Employee exits, his or her First Move is Forward. When a driver cannot pull through a parking space, back into the space whenever possible and legal. In both cases, when the driver exits, drive forward out of the space. · Drivers should backup cautiously and always be alert for any unexpected event. · Depending on the circumstances, any vehicle that has an obstructed rear window may need to sound an audio warning by horn or have a ground guide person. · The Employee should respect all traffic laws and be courteous to other drivers, adjust driving to current traffic conditions and weather and never hurry. · In foul weather, Employees should not attempt to drive through a scene where other vehicles have had trouble. If conditions become too hazardous to proceed, the Employee should pull off the road at the first safe place until conditions improve. · Fuel shall be kept in approved containers only as any other container may be a hazard as gasoline dissolves some plastics. Be aware that some clients may have their

own requirements for gas/fuel containers. Employees should take care when pouring and use a funnel if necessary · Drivers shall NEVER smoke while working with gasoline and shall not smoke in a Company vehicle. This prohibition includes smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes Roof Lights Employees often ask about whether the Company vehicles should or could have flashing or rotating roof lights. Flashing or rotating roof lights may be used on vehicles when appropriate to designate a hazard and in accordance with state law. Every state law is different. · Connecticut – vehicles used by DOT-authorized construction inspectors while they are performing inspections on the State’s behalf may use a yellow or amber light per CGS §14-96q(f). Otherwise, a permit must be obtained from DMV or an individual specified by CGS §14-96q. · New Jersey – Permit Required https://www.state.nj.us/ mvc/pdf/about/BLS-34.pdf · Pennsylvania – vehicles authorized pursuant to 75 Pa. C.S.A. §6107 (relating to designation of authorized vehicles by department) may use flashing or revolving yellow lights. 75 Pa. Driving to and at an Active Construction/Job Site Employees must be cognizant of the following things when driving to or on a job site. Before leaving for a site, determine the type of site and the work that will be occurring. Work on a limited access highway in a public right-of-way will be very different from work on a “big box” land development site.
